Chip to increase mileage

Chip to increase mileage
I recently purchased a 2007 F250 Super Duty, it is raised with big tires. My first few tanks of diesel have averaged about 9 MPG whether towing my travel trailer or not. I have heard I can purchase a chip to increase mileage when not towing but I am not mechanically inclined, am looking for help from those in the know.

Some people claim improvement with a tuner(you really don't want to use chips on the 6.0 even if they were made for it; you have modules(the devil) and tuners(custom is the only way to go)), however, even if your neighbor claims(and may have even gotten improvement) that doesn't mean that you will. Far too many variables involved.
Even if you did see an improvement, can you really logically attribute it to the one mod that you did? Not logically you can't. You might think so, but not really.
Like others said, raised with tires are already killers of MPG as it is. Either get it back to stock height and tires or be prepared to keep paying for it at the pump. One of the many reasons why I don't like lifts and bigger tires on street vehicles, you're always paying for them even after the purchase and install.
Bottomline is that you have to remember that chips/modules/tuners are performance enhancers first and foremost. Buy them with that in mind, you'll enjoy your purchase a whole lot more.
