Anyone who goes to that Ford event and then breaks the embargo is a ________ (well, I'm not going to use the word) who can't be trusted to keep his word and doesn't deserve to be invited to Ford press events. It would be pretty pathetic to breaking embargoes into order to pump up an ego.

B's FX4 - I truly hope this isn't your source and you're not one of those types of people. I don't think you are and assume you're talking about the auto show in early January. If not, and the photos come from this event I'd hate to have to ban you from FTE.

Go for it brother. You're the new Rockford PI here and I think legal espionage is cool stuff. WHY is FTE Ken so po'd? What's the embargoes he's talking about? Some type of employee oath or what? Don't work in the auto industry and do not have any embargoes to speak of in my world. Just play by the rules and be a good person is my mantra.

ArtsBest,

I'm not talking about spy shots and I'm not PO'd. I was referring to a press-only event this coming week. The press is invited to these with the express consideration that information is withheld until a certain release date. Its not a legal contract, but it is a matter of honor and trust with the manufacturer --- and if you break an embargo you can bet you will never attend that manufacturer's event again.

Why would someone else breaking an embargo get under my skin? Well, for one thing, they'd be using this site to do it --- not cool. I have a great relationship with Ford and want it to stay that way. For another, part of the reason for embargoes is to also let writers have lead time to get stories ready. What happens when someone breaks an embargo is they ruin lead times for everyone else.

If photos are coming from someone inside of Ford or a Ford supplier they'd have to be awfully stupid to risk their job over something like that. About 3 years back we had a Powerstroke engineer posting on FTE almost lose his pension because he disclosed inside information. He was slated for retirement 3 months later after 30+ years of service. He was very, very lucky he didn't lose his pension (breach of NDA is a situation where you can lose it) and it was only because he had someone he knew go to bat for him.

The plant is down for a couple of weeks (tooling, change over), but I'll be in for some extra training with the launch team. Don't know what time the event is (just found out about it from a couple of buddies on the "core" launch team) so I doubt if I will be there. If I am, I'll try to find you!
