does it do it only when driving, or will the lights cut off while the truck is sitting still??
either way it is probably the switch, a loose ground, or a loose connection where the switch plugs in

If you have a tilt wheel,, It could have a broken wire near the MFS........

I forgot 2 mention. You know how you push the directional lever foward to put high beams on? Well when my lights shut off randomly i can pull the directional level backwards and the lights will come one?? But when the lights work and i go to put it into high beam they will shut off.......

Sounds like it may be in the hi-lo beam switch. Is it loose? Do the blinkers act up also?

i had the same problem when i bought my truck i drove it like that for a month until i couldnt take it anymore. my problem was the switch on the dash. i changed it out in the parking lot at advanced auto zone. fixed ever since.

its been awhile but i think around 30 ish. the most noticable thing on the switch was there was a burnt look on the back. good luck its not to hard to get to. all u need is a 1/4" socket set and your set
