Remote starter for 6.0 PSD?

Does anyone know where I can get a remote starter for my 2006 PSD. I read a thread where one of you said he had one with a delay.

I had the Astro-Start installed in mine. Has never failed me yet and I use it every day. The guys from Alaska recommended it to me a few years back. What is nice the system does not require hacking into your wiring, only a few signal wires, the rest is a module that piggy backs into your system. 2,000 ft range is nice.

I would agree with that statement... i looked at the code alarm installation and they tap into about 20 wires it seems.. Rather nasty, but then again I don't really see how else they could do it.

Unless you use a t-harness of some sort, you have to tap several wires for a remote start. 12v(+), Ignition 1, Ignition 2, Starter, Accessory 1, Acessory 2, Tach, ground, neutral safety switch are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. For the 05's and newer you have to have a delay timer unfortunately.

I have a 05 and had a viper with remote start installed. It works great and I also use the turbo cool down feature that is in it.

I have the viper 5900 and use it for the remote start and the turbo delay and it works really good, however, I'm one of those people that would recommend having a shop install it.

My truck has one as well, I wish I knew what kind it was, I bought my truck slightly used and it had it on there, its definatly nice. It has the delay for the glow plugs, and the park lights turn on once its started. I dont see any wires hacked into anywhere either.

Actually I just called the number on the back of the pod, Never would have guessed it but its an Audiovox I guess....

does Ford make one that can be just plugged in and get a new remote to work with the keyless entry from the factory?

yes they do, i have one. had it installed at the dealer, it a factory remote and mine also had an alarm with it. don't use many functions of the alarm but insurance gave me another discount. dealer had the truck for less than an hour and it's nice and neat from what i can see. no mess of wires hacked into and i have no worries about electrical warranty since it's their product and they installed it for around $300.00

No even the one from Ford has to splice into the existing wiring.

I got an AutoPage RS1000 installed in my truck and I am very happy with it so far. One mile range and two way paging. Color OLED on the remote, rechargeable with the same charger as my cell phone. I still need to read the instructions to figure everything out on it though. The only problem I have is with Ford's decision to turn on the dome light whenever you shut the engine off. Since the alarm uses the dome light to see when a door is open, my alarm goes off if I let the remote start run it's full time limit and the truck shuts off. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out a way around this.

Check out www.directed.com there are the parent company to Python, viper, Clifford and some others. All three alarm brands are about the same they are sold at different retailers Circuit City=Python, Best Buy=Viper and so on it prevents them from having to match prices. The most important part of an alarm system is the installation. The best alarm will be a piece of junk and problematic if it is not installed correctly. Where ever you go check out the quality of the installation personally then make sure that the same installer works on your truck. Personally I am a fan of soldering and taping all connections if it’s done correctly it should outlast your truck. Unfortunately these days most places like to take the short way out and use the crimp style butt connectors. Butt connectors don’t seal out moisture and can pull apart. I have the Python 990 and love it my only complaint is that it only came with one remote and I am always misplacing my keys. I use the remote start almost every day and I can remove my keys without shutting off the truck to run in some place quickly.

I had mine installed by the dealer. covered by the factory warranty and has great range on it. The nice thing is that its all inclusive so my door locks, panic button, everything works from inside buildings and across large parking lots. I dont know what was required for the wiring but the box tucks under the steering wheel and the antenna hides behind the rear view mirror. EVERYTHING on the truck works in conjunction. Horn, lights, alarm, locks, it even has a "find" feature that beeps the horn soft and quick (not sure how you could lose a F350 in a parking lot). I chose the Ford model so that my FOB included everything I need for the truck. I have seen others that have 1 FOB to start the truck and still need the factory FOB for the door locks. Also, the Ford system doesnt require you to give up 1 of your keys to get around the factory security system if your key has the chip in it.

yea but the Ford system isin't worth a crap. Range sucks and if your winshiels is covered with snow it won't "see" the signal.

I've got a Clifford alarm/start combo (made be DEI, same as Python, Viper) w/ the 2 way remote that works great. Love the autostart on cold mornings!

Had the same interior light issue as Beerstalker as I had to lock the doors 1st w/ the OEM remote to turn off the interior lights and then arm/lock the alarm. John Freeman's Car Audio in Cornelius, NC needed about an hour and $50 to cure this issue.
