fuel pump

I have a 97 powerstroke and the fuelpump is leaking so Im replacing it but how do you get the bolt out of the back with out taking the turbo off is there a tool for this or does someone know the size so i can make a tool to get to it.

Yes you can take 1-1/4" and bend it some then you just have to make little turns at a time. It does work I have done it. Use the box end.

From what I read , you may have to remove the turbo,, did you order a direct replacement pump?

yes but what is the diffence form a cali mode and not and how did you get yours out

Mine doesn't have the "Star Ship Enterprise" on top of it,, mine looks like..this....

Hey 1tons4life,
The 1 without the starship is non-cali, and the banjo fitting bolts directly to the front of the pump. and is quite accessible.
Hope this helped a little.

Fuel Pump Tappet

I am having the same problem and ran a search last night on the forum. I found this link to be very good reading

Can anyone tell me about the tappet? I read that it is possible that it could fall into the engine while removing the pump and that you should bump the engine over till the cam lobe is at the top. I have never seen a pump or tappet in person, so I don't have a concrete idea of the danger.

Is the tappet attached to the pump by friction only?

Would it be possible to run a string under the pump after the bolts are removed and tie it off before removing the pump?
