Help!!Question about 97 Powerstroke!

My buddy has 97 f250 4x4 with a 7.3 powerstroke.Just the other day it quit running. It will spin over but will not fire.We have checked and the truck is getting fuel to the fuel filter bowl. Here recently the truck has been getting hard to start if the block heater isn't plugged up.Any ideas on what to check or replace on this truck to get it back to running? Also the truck has 275,000 miles on it.Thx

It could also be the GP's or the GP relay. I only say this since it is getting colder every where now. You can hold a screwdriver acrss the 2 big posts on the GPR before you try to start it in the morning. Hold it on there for about a minute or a minute and half then see how/if it starts. That will eliminate the GPR. post back and we can have you check the GP's. The CPS is a cheap thing to try and more than likely that will fix it. shop around for that item they can be found cheap. Also look here.

try the CPS. they are only like $25 at ford now. also check the HPOP reservior level. it should be pretty close to the top. check some simple stuff too. make sure it has oil in it, ect.

Good call on the simple stuff.

Also does it have a chip in it? If so remove it and then try to start.

Well I agree with you. I just assumed that "quit running" meant it quit starting also. Good call powerstrokeddiesel. I still go for the CPS just trying to offer other options.

Check all of the under hood fuses, especially # 22 & # 9. If 22 is blown, unplug your fuel heater (not block heater) and then replace the fuse. Keep us updated as you check things and we'll get you back up and running.
