My second L 04 bassani exh,cai ,valve body.So this is it, a good friend of mine allways talks smack.All his toy's are allways faster than mine, so he thinks.His diesel truck,NO! ,the new boat he bought to beat me with,NO!.I go and buy a H2,he has to buy one, he says it's 4 his wife?.So I buy my first L 01 with all the goody's runs a 11.9, not bad truck but a real peace.Truck was a pain in the ***.So I gave my friend a ride ,he was imprest.A week later he calls and saids come and look at my new toy,04 viper not bad.So I sold the 01L didn't get to race viper. Then I buy the 04 L, he buys a 04 Z06 now he wont's to race.Don't those cars have 500hp?.I cant loose this race, I will never hear the end of it.So what do I have to do to the04 L to beat him? He has more money than I do ,so I can't just go and buy a car to beat the Z06.there has allways been a pissing match
with him and me.Like how the man with little money,beats the man with all the money.
So any ideas would be nice.thanks

 

Depends on how much money you wanna spend.

Start with a quality built engine with heads and cams, add long tube headers, 60lb injectors, 255lph fuel pumps, a single blade throttle body, SCT 2400 MAF (or MAFia), 2400/2800 stall convertor some weight reduction and top it off with a Whipple 3.4 and you'll be able to crush him in the 1/4 mile.

Nitrous is also a nice equalizer!

It all comes down to how much you wanna spend.

The whipple is a winter project.He wants to go now,but I said in the spring. So these trucks arent that fast in stock form.sound like alot of work, all I wount to do is kick his ***, not drain my bank account.Maybe I should have bought the SRT then .thanks

 

You aren't gonna beat a Viper or a Z06 without some serious cash investment.

SRT what? 10? If you meant the SRT 10, then you'd have a rude awakening!

The money you'd spend to buy one of those trucks would be a lot more than you'd spend on an L, plus, with only two mod's on the L (a lower pulley and a tune), you'd completely eat the SRT's lunch.

Stock for stock the SRT would probably edge the L in the 1/4 mile, depending on the driver and which body style SRT was doing the race, the crew cab or the standard cab.

This is not my opinion, this is based on info from our fellow truck enthusiasts who own SRT 10's, one of whom has owned both the 10 and the L.

Plus, I've seen quite a few vids over the last few years of L's vs. 10's at the drag strip.

Besides, how is it your buddy would have bragging rights over you?

Seriously, think about it! If your buddy were to brag to ANY automobile performance aficionado that his '04 Z06 beat your '04 Lightning (a farm truck for gosh sakes!) do you really think anyone would be amazed?

In my opinion, people would look at your buddy and say, "ok, what's the punch line?" You know, they'd look at your buddy and say, "And????"

The gen 2 L's are nice, fast trucks, but c'mon bro, we're talking about a Z06 here! They're the bomb!

As Stewart said it wouldn't be easy to beat a Z06, but you've made the good choice between the srt and L. One upper pulley (not even a lower pulley or tune) exhaust and a CAI is all you need to toast those srt trucks.. simple as that.........http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=1

 

I've never had any trouble beating them! lol On the other hand my L has the built motor, trans, blower, nitrous, etc. You're gonna have to drop a few bucks to beat a ZO6 with a 4700lb truck, thats all there is to it. Or, option 2, sell the stock L and buy one already built.

 

You could always bang your buddy's ole lady, post it on the web....and tell him it all happened while he was out trying to overcompensate for his "short" comings with his new Z06......

 

Sounds like the SRT is not a great idea,stick with the L.Don't get me wrong I like my L , butt this is a thing with my budy that has been going on 4 years.It would be nice to see a big shot go down.He only buys these thing to **** off his friends, because knows we can,not all at once. I have been in the viper, not a big deal!!thats why he got the Z06 he was not imprest with it neather.So the Z06 out of my reach.He spent more money then I did so he can win this one.As fore the ole lady thing ,I would sooner lose the braging rites.Your rite he has alot of "short " comings with a Z06 and viper in his garage.
