i have an np435 4 speed in mine. 4.9l. I cant comment on the common aspect but most of the later broncos ive seen have been autos, most of the pre87 ones ive seen have been manuals.

There were more in the earlier years.
My 84 has a 4spd manual
My 96 has an auto.

Kinda paints the picture.
Ford offers less manual trannies in all their truck lines these days.

Why are you asking?

you cant even get a manual in an f150 4x4, only a v6 rwd i think. most companies are phasing out manuals unless its a work truck pretty much.

whether common or now you can swap whatever you want in. there is an endless combo of motor/tranny setups im sure. i have two ford trucks and ive had another before and all were manuals, np425, bwt19 and a mazda 5 speed.

^^^^ I would say that's pretty accurate, based on my observations.

I have a 90 Bronco that had an E4OD auto in when I bought it, I than swapped in a ZF-5 manual. The transfer case did bolt up fine. Did have to change the shift linkage to the transfer case, manual is shorter than the auto.

zf is prob the best 5 speed you could get in the later years.

if your planning on beating on your truck and not do much highway driving id drop in a top loader, my np435 has a 6.6:1 first gear. only prob is 1st gear isnt syncronized, i think the t19s were sync in 1st gear.

my '79 came with the t-19 which have higher gears...very highway friendly.

i think the t-19 will turn out to be rather rare if not very rare.

The T19 and the T18 both have a 1:1 4th gear. No difference at all.

it must have a seriously tall gears in the rear-end then...have to check that out...i was told the t18 is about the same as the np. and that that the 435 has lower gears.
