Question F100 Supernationals??

Hey guys and gals, How many of you cats have been to the Supernats in TN? I was just curious, we've been going since '93. I know there are some here who have, cause that's where I met some of you. If you have been to both the Supernats and the F100 western show? (I dont know if that's the name of it or not) How do the 2 compare? I was just curious on some of the BIG shows?

We're talking about "trading" the Supernats for the new one in June in Pigeon Forge? Don't know yet.

Later guys

I'm on the west coast, so the supernationals is a ways to drive for us westerners. I have attended the Western Nationals put on by the Pickups Limited group in Orange County, CA. Several of the west coast people have also attended. I have purchased DVD's of the supernationals in Tenn, and they look like fun. I can only speak for the Western Nationals, which is one the best shows I've been to. Music, food, top quality trucks, panels, and a raffle that will blow you away. I won a aluminum gas tank from CPP, edelbrock items, tools, gift certificates, waxes, etc. all in the raffle. Plus they had tons of info from the F100 vendors who are mostly here on the west coast. I make it a point to attend this show every year. Edsf100 in here is the VP of the club and was the main person who organized the show last year. This years is suppose to be the 40th year of the Western Nationals and a even bigger event. Personally, I can't see how they can make the event any better.

I had no idea that the Western Nationals was older than the Supernats? That's so cool! Sounds like you guys have a good time!

I,m pretty sure Ed meant to say that it is the 40th Anniv. for Pickups Limited who are hosting the show. I think it has been around since about 1999. It is a Great show and I look forward to seeing all the guys there.

Thanks for correcting me Wayne. It is the 40th Anniversary of Pickups Limited, not the western nationals. Here's the flyer for next years event if anyone is interested.

I was at the supernats in 06, but won't be returning. Dialysis keeps me close to home now (every other day).

Thumbs up

The Super Nats is one of the best shows to attend. I was lucky enough to attend the 06 show and got there on the super tour starting out from Cal. We ended up with 50 plus trucks when we arrived in Tenn.

Thanks for the kind words on the Western Nats. I was one of many who did a great job on this years event. That's what made it happen. Classic Trucks did a nice piece in the Nov issue. Grant Peterson is number 5 for next years show. Pat Ford was a special guest of our show this year and we'll be teaming up for both shows next year. This last show was the 25th year for the show. Next years shows is already in the works and we all talked about how high we set the bar on this last show, but the vendors are right there with us and the pre-show event will be even better. I've already received entry forms for next year show. Plus we reserved more of the site to park street rods that spectators might bring to the show. That could end up a show of it's own.

Sup Nats

I've been to the Super Nationals in Knoxville for the last two years and have had a great time. It is a great show but I feel that 07 lacked vendor support.
I plan on going every year and some day plan on taking the truck with. I have pics in my gallery of the 06 & 07 shows for those of you who missed them. Hope to meet a lot of you there in 08, we need to organize a name tag system before this years show.

My personal take on the Supernats, I have been attending for the last 3 years and each year it seems to thin out. I cannot comment on any judging, awards, or prizes given away as I have not attended with a truck, just there to look and get parts. The vendors have been down, but the quality of the trucks are there. I do like the park and the setup, but outside the 12 foot iron fences and prison style entrances is a very bad neighborhood. I do not see the area getting any better in the future. From what I have heard about PF is the problem of getting around and lack of parking. I much rather deal with that than crackheads asking me for money and me wondering about my vehicle parked outside the gate. You usually see plenty of security inside the park, but none outside on the streets. I plan on one more year in Knox with my truck (God willing) and after that I'm done.

Since the Supernats has moved to Knoxville, the show has fallen off a little more each year. I have several friends who were regulars and they are pretty torqued off by the move. They say that they will not go back till it gets moved back to Pigeon Forge. That's why I was talking to Tacson about what the other show in June was all about. He said it was like the Supernats "was" in the beginning. We're talkin about "trading" the Supernats for this other show? I'm not sure yet, but a name tag system sounds real good! Maybe we could all meet each other?

Thanks guys for the post! Tacson said that the June show had 60 trucks show up!! That's how the Supernats got started. With a handfull of trucks and a lot of fun!!!

The only show I might be able to attend is the show me F-100 run in Branson in July. Last year (the 20th) they had 99 trucks registered, plus the club trucks. This year they willl have a drive in movie on location for the attendees of the show. It should be really fun.

Instead of the sloped hotel parking lot, it will now be behind it all in what is now called "area 57". If you know anything about Branson, that area has car shows almost every weekend during the summer.
