http://www.eurekaboy.com/f250/slipjoint.htm

And saw that the config in the article does not look like mine. Why the difference? And were is the slip yoke?

Nope, no grease fitting. Take it apart, grease it up, and then hook it back up. The article linked above covers it pretty well.

And all I need to do is drop the shaft from the carrier like the instructions state?

Why is my setup different?

You also have to cut one of the metal bands that seal the rubber boot to the drive shaft. I usually cut off the rear one. Use a large plastic tie-wrap to replace it when you're done.

I just did it this weekend..

You do not need to cut that metal clamp! If you do it right you can reuse it.. Get a very narrow and thin flatblade screw driver.. You will see on the clamp there is a section that is pinched which pulls the metal clamp into 2 slots to hold it.. Use the flat blade and twist to open up that pinch.. It will then slide the end off the two pockets.. Remove it.. Then slide the boot back and you will see the spline (solid blue).. Use a punch and gently mark one shaft and then the spline so that you know where to line it up..

Separate the two sides and clean it out real good.. Then, this is the key, screw Ford's piece of crap blue goob they say to use (I've used it and it won't last worth a damn!).. Go buy you a can of Red Schauffers Lube.. It's like a cherry color and very very stringy.. Lube the shaft and the inside of the shaft..

Now when you put them together you will have a TON of resistance and the goob will push out.. Just go slow and slide it back and fourth (sounds kinky) while rubbing the excessive goob down the rest of the shaft.. Once its all on slide it up and put the boot over it..

Take the metal clamp and put it back around the shaft and place the end into the pockets, using a pair of wire cutters (they are thin enough), very CAREFULLY squeeze the pinch point without busting the clamp and it will lock back.. If you bust it, just grab a zip tie..

We did this and when I was done, I was EXTREMELY pleased.. The slip joint does not twist and clunk at all.. It's a nice strong lubricated feel and the way this crap spreads out.. It's not going to dry out anytime soon..

I used Ford goob 15k miles ago and it was bone dry when I pulled it apart..

OK, scratch the last msg. Although having everything off would be easier I can stil get the job done.

So...Does this look a little...dry?

Had a problem though, dont know if this happended on removal or is an existing issue. What are the best type u-joints to buy for your typical parts store?

That looks about like mine did lol... Now lube that big boy up.. As for joints, if you got an O'Reilly's Parts Store near you.. That would be a good place..
