460 air intake horns. cut them off?
i've seen it mentioned before about cutting these off. no one has said one way or the other about if it's good or bad. i'm sure they were there for a reason but all they seem to do is restrict airflow?! stock airbox and stock exhaust...just wondering y i would keep these?

i cut mine off.
i use to have a 1995 f350 with a 460 that i bought new in 1995.
the thing was sort of a dog in my opinion, i had a 1995 dodge with a v10 that would easily out pull it.
here is what i did to it, over time of course that woke the monster up.......i cut those air horns off, put an open element k&n filter on it, some real exhaust and that was it besides a tune up and such after so many miles and new plug wires.
even with 35x14.5 swampers i could squeal the tires on that thing. i was actually surprised how much power was bottled up, a guy i was stationed with had a 1996 or 97 f350 cc and that was stock and we both could feel a huge difference in the power between the 2.
i have no idea what those horns do, but i just was looking and used my own judgment about airflow, i think someone once said they are for cutting down intake noise.

Yah when I had to dry out my intake system I saw those and wondered the same thing, I think it is hooked up to some vacume hose or somthing cause it you look in the little circle in the circle there are little like vent holes. or there are in mine. I wished I knew what they were for sure tho, so I could cut them off and get better air flow.
