2000 Lightning Motor

I have a 2000 Lightning motor and I'm looking for a stand alone engine management systen to put in a vintage truck. Anybody out there ever done one or can direct me it would be greatly appreciated.

That would be OK if that is all that is out there but I would really rather run coil paks, or first choice would be coil over plug since when I bought this crate motor it came with all this wiring and coils on it already. It has the factory wiring on the motor for the COP and the fuel injectors and timing sensors. Thanks for showing me that, it is interesting.

My engine builder put a newer 4.6 setup in his early model Mustang.
He said it was a lot of work and had to put the computer in to run it.
Heres a pic of the car. http://www.performance-evolution.com...ge/1739165.htm

Phil, I just got off the phone with Matt @ performance evolution. Looks like we are going to be able to do something together. He has referred me to a wiring harness guy and he(Matt) sounds like the computer man, so all around I think this is a very good deal. I really like the thought of running the factory set up instead of the dizzy set up. I told him that you referred me and again I appreciate it. Ward

Hey that's good to here. Glad I could help.
Matt is the man when it comes to tuning. Hes in the middle of swapping my 4r70w for a new 4R100. Had to put the Lightning control parameters in my computer to control the tranny + Quit a lot of other parts to make it all work.
Let me know how it all works out for ya.

Phil

Hey my fellow Kentuckian, what year of truck are you putting it in? It would be neat to see it when it's done.

Good to see other Ky people on here. This motor will be going in a 55 or 56 F-100. And it will be awhile before I can make any progress, we are in the middle of an adoption for our daughter from Russia and then there is Christmas around the corner. I was just trying to get some ducks in a row so that I have a plan when it comes time. I don't live too far from Louisville, do you all ever have get togethers? I'm in a Maverick club and the pres lives in Louisville so I go up there for that and to get frosty ones from time to time.

We've been trying to get everybody together. Check out the Ky chapter farther down the main forum page.

If you are re-using the factory harness and sensors in the engine then SDS makes a standalone plug-and-play type system. They'll setup the initial tuning parameters and adjustments from there are fairly straight forward.

Another option at least.
