ok, I am going to JB weld it for now and keep my eye out for a good used one. I do have the question on how to get the heating unit out. I see a plastic nut on the bottom of the plastic pedistal in the cannister. I can use a crows foot to get this out but I have to borrow one. What size is that exactly? Also I thought I read somewhere that might be left handed treads, is this true? I want to clean out the cannister really good at the bottom so I can make sure to get out all the crap.

Yep, it's a left hand thread. I can't remember the size tho, sorry. Maybe some else will jump in here with it. BTW: the fuel heater isn't really necessary unless you live in an extremely cold climate. IT is a source of trouble that can leave you stranded if shorts out. It will blow #22 fuse under the hood. Most just disconnect it from the out side of the canister but you can opt to just leave it out. If you want to keep it check here for an upgrade:
