Michelin LTX M/S Tires
I just replaced the factory Pirelli Scorpion STR tires on my F250 2wd CC v10 with Michelin LTX M/S size 265/75/16. I noticed the ride was smoother, but also a lot harsher over even small bumps in the road. I have been running about 65-70 psi in the back and 55-60 in the front. I lowered the pressure by about 5psi front and back and that seemed to help, but it's still pretty stiff. I still have a couple weeks where I can exchange for another brand. Has anyone had problems with the LTX M/S, or have had good success with another tire?

Michelin LTX
In addition to my Super Duty I own three E-150 vans and two Chevy vans, I have run nothing but Michelin LTX tires. I have been very pleased with their performance. Just put a set of Michelin Cross Terrian Suvs on my wifes Expedition in place of the pos Continentals it came with. Ask a big rig driver what tire they prefer and I'll bet they say Michelin.

I've found that 50-55 psig in the front realy helps keep a smooth ride, and if I'm unloaded (whihc is normal), then 55-60 is icing on the cake in terms of smoothness.
I've recently put a set of the Bridgestone Revos (285x75xR16) on my wife's 2003 Excursion and absolutely love them. Driving it around town, it feels like to tires actually sink their teeth into the road with an impressive grip. I know, too, from having been on the highway through a couple of frog-strangling rains that they will move the water out of the way with no trouble at all.
I'm currently planning on installing the Revos when my LTX's wear down.

just because a tire lasts a long time doesn't make it great. there are other performance factors to consider( wear, ride, grip etc.). i have always run the michelins on my vehicles and think they are a great tire. my previous set that i had installed were the pirelli scorpion atr. they were by far the best handling, and gripping tires i have ever owned. they're only short fall was that due to the sticky rubber (much like motorcyle tires), they wore out quickly. as in around 20,000 miles. i put michelins back on and immediatly noticed the difference. still think they are good, but i loved the grip (wet or dry) of the pirelli's. i may just have to resign myself to spending $800-$900 a year on tires. they were that much better! even with the michelins, i never got more than 35,000 to 40,000 miles out of them. you guys getting 70,000+ must be seriously light footed and run them down to the steel!

I put 2 or 3 sets of Michelin LTX M/S on my 97' f250....... I thought they were great tires....... good traction in snow,, mud, sand, water dispersion on the highway..... they performed well. I always ran them at a lot lower air pressure and carried a few 70lb sandbags in the bed.
I can't say that they were the best riding tire,, but I couldn't tell a difference in ride between the factory Firestones,, the Michelins,, or the last ones I put on which were B.F. Goodrich Commercial TA.
It doesn't matter how much you spend on the best tires in the world,,,,,,,,, they are not going to make a 97' F250HD ride nice.
I've been happy with all 3 of the tires that I mentioned above.

I have the Michelins LTX M/S on my truck now and I run 60 psi all around.
They are wearing good but they do seem to ride a rougher than my Pirelli
Scorpions on my 04 F250 V10 which I traded in about 7 months ago.
I like the profile of the Pirelli's better than the Michelin's, but they are both
good tires.
