Anyone Running BFG All-Terrain T/A KO 305-65-18 On Stock 18" Rims???

I've got a 2004.5 F150 FX4 SCrew. I picked up the revised AutoSpring 2.5" leveling kit and some other (non-suspension) goodies, and I need to replace my tires. I know I want to go up in size and get a more aggressive tread pattern, but I don't want to run into major issues with rubbing, or killing my paint with tires that stick way out of the stock wheel wells, etc.

Who has tried running the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires in 305-65-18 on stock rims? Anything I should know before I go and make the purchase?

I've done some searching on these forums, and I've seen some pro's and con's, but much was for other tires/trucks, and I want to ask the question point blank.

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Black04lariat:
Your truck looks awesome! What kind of fuel mileage are you getting with those tires and the 5.4L?

Well I finally realized that I had forgot to reprogram my Edge for my larger tire size but I dont think it will make that large of a difference. I get about 14-15hwy doing 75ish.

Thanks guys.

I have 325/65/18 on stock lincoln rims, with very very slight rub at full turn. Deffinitly nothing to cause me any concern.

You should have no problems at all with 305's

Pics in gallery.

Thanks, gang!

I ordered the 305-65-18's today. They should be in for about 9/20. I'll have the shop install the 2.5" AS LK, the new tires, and do the alignment (wheels and headlamps). I could probably handle the install of the LK just fine, but I don't have the time. Work has been insane lately!

I installed a pair of the grey bezel FX2 headlamps late last week, and in my Dark Shadow Grey Metallic FX4, they look great! I've got the MBRP dual-exit exhaust to put on, and an Edge Evolution to install.

I'll try to get some pics up in my gallery afterwards.

Cheers,

Sean

Sean,
I'm also planning on changing my headlamp assy with FX2/Harley dark bezels on my 07 SCRW FX4. Are there any ticks to swapping the assy, or is it pretty straight forward. Also where did you buy the headlamp assy. So far my best price was $200.00 ea. from a Ford dealer in Texas.

BrianFX4,
Look at any F-150 brouchure. The FX2 and Harley versions have the headlights we are taking about. These headlights have the dark gray or black looking bezel instead of chrome.

Sweed,

I bought mine through Blacktock Ford, and Jim Carson there gave me a good price, but the fact of the matter is these things just aren't cheap. I paid $699 plus taxes for the pair.

Actually, I believe the FX2 and '07 FX4 Plus models have the grey bezel headlamps, but that the HD edition trucks actually have black bezel headlamps. Perhaps if there's a Ford dealership employee among us, they could check the part numbers and verify there's a difference.

Swapping the headlamps was VERY simple. I had both done in about 25 minutes start to finish. For each side, there's a flexible air guide alongside the grill opening which requires the removal of one screw/snap-tab to move out of the way. There are three bolts per headlamp, and then three wiring connectors (for the lights).

I didn't bother re-aiming the headlamps yet, as I'll have it done when I get the alignment done after the tires go on, but there not off much if at all right now.

The new tires should arrive around 9/20. I can't wait!!!

Cheers,

Sean

305/65-18 stock rims

Hey, can any of you guys running 305/65-18 on stock rims give an update on wear/mileage or any problems since install. I don't want to drop a grand on rims if not necessary. I have 44,000 on stock BFG rugged trails looking to replace them this fall. BTW I have a 2'' auto spring and skyjacker add a leaf on 04 screw 4x4 lariat. Thanks BWEP

You dont need new rims. I think you should be fine with a 2" AS but not positive. I get a little bit of rubbing at full turn on the frame but no biggie. My BFG's are wearing a bit quicker than I would like but I tow a fair amount. I run them with a 2.5 and 1.5AAL. Wish I woulda gone bigger lol.

Thanks good to know I have an option. A little rub doesn't bother me. If I can swing it I'll go for the rims. Also looks like it will be shock time thats another 450 if I go bilstiens. How long before those 09's come out ? ( I wish)
