Are you doing the work yourself or having it done for you? cause much can be saved with a DIY attitude. im also currently looking for lifts and have found this site moderatly helpful as it gathers several brands into one place

You'll probably pay about the same price for the lift as the labor to install.

Most shops charge ~$300 per axle for gear installs.

is that including parts? cause thats cheap! hell parts alone cost that! i'd say about $500 per axle with parts/labor (on the cheaper side) and look to pay about $1500 or so for the lifts' parts/labor (on the cheaper side)

i'd say, making an educated guess.... $2500 after all is said and done, however dont feel violated when the bill comes out to be over $3K. but thats just a guess as i have never let a shop touch either of my trucks.

good luck to ya

Naw...my quote was not including parts.

A few years ago I paid $400 parts and labor to regear a dana axle.....of course other axles would be cheaper...like 14B.

It is cheaper to buy the jackstands to hold the frame up (that's how you pull the springs), and whatever other random tools you may need than to pay for a shop lift.
Dig around in the Connecticut chapter and see if there are any locals that would help you out.
Put a 4" suspension lift on my 79, only thanks to 75F350 from here. Met up, he had the front leaves and U-bolts, drank some beers, had a good ol' time. Took half a day, and I'd never done any suspension work before. Learned a lot.

hatchet:
All kidding aside, I get $1200 to 1500 (plus) to re-gear front and rear axles. I provide all of the parts (bearings shims, ARP bolts, etc) and (Yukon) gears.
I also get almost the same just to install a 4,6,or 8 inch lift on a 99-04 super duty, if they buy the kit through my shop.
This kind of work is not cheap.
Hope it does not discourage you, but it is a bunch of work, especially for a first timer.

Like cutts said, $500 would be cheap for a gear and locker install.

Ring and pinion, install kit, labor, etc... would cost about $600-700 + $200-300 for a cheap locker or limited slip(or $500-700 for a detroit or ARB like).

It will be expensive if done right.

You could be like a lot of people and don't do gears and lockers(save $1500), and have a slug of a truck for acceleration, towing, and off roading.

According to his gallery it's a 97 F-350.
So that'd be leafs all around, and large axles(which just mean gears cost more, so a ring and pinion would be a good $250 instead of $140).
