Post Oil Pressure Guage

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Nov-02 AT 07:19 PM (EST)]I have a 2000 F150 with a 4.6L. It has approx 75000km on it. The oil pressure guage needle drops to blow L and the oil pressure light comes on. This only happens on initial cold start. After about 3 mins the light goes out and the needle goes back to halfway between L and H on the oil pressure guage. The engine seems to run fine during this period.

I checked the oil level and it is fine. I did a search on this forum with negative results, however I did find a TSB #14907 and BSeqNumber 202...but it did not reveal much info.

What would it take to retify this problem. Any thoughts on what it might be. Is it a problem to drive it this way for any lenght of time.

Thanks in advance
Shawn

I have a 2000 f150 and it did the same thing. I can't recall what is was but it is just a oil sensor. I replaced it and my truck is fine now

Oil Pressure Guage

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Jan-03 AT 07:30 PM (EST)]Just take it to the dealer or tell them to fix it.With only 27k miles they should fix the matter and it should not cost you anything to have it fixed.and you should not have any more issues with the sensor

Oil Pressure Guage

Thanks for the reply. I asked around at a few dealership. One service fellow told me to try a new oil pressure sensor first. It kinda looks like a spark plug. Its located near the oil filter. Any way put in the new sensor solved the problem. Best thing is it cost $13.oo CDN.
