From Thornbirds to Goodyears! Man you are all over the place on tires huh?
You will need wheel also if you go with the H1 tires. I believe those are
36 x 12.5 x 16.5's.
That means you are gonna need some wheels too.
As far as performance goes, they are strong, work fair, (except for wet weather) and last like crazy. But they are really nothing to get super excited about. For the money, they are decent rubber.

Yeah I've been looking around(alot).Ebay's got some cheap rubber.Theres some procomp mudterrains. There blimished, but I don't care about looks.Everything looks good in mud. They got my size 33x12.5x15 for 135.00 a tire compared to 160.00 new.i think about these now,the best part is I can still use the same wheels.Plus the procomps a new,and for the price of less than a maxxis buckshot,I think there one heck of a deal.If only I could find some firestones or BFG's for that price,I ain't that lucky. So Im probaly going to try the procomps, but Im going to start saving for some BFG's so next time I get tires,i can buy ones i know are good, and perform good too.
Thanks

hummer tires are ok if you dont mind body roll. there only a c rated bias tire that makes them soft. yes you need 16.5 wheels if used ,i ran a regrover ran the middle of them and there good for off road, but a bumpy swaying rough ride down the highway.but there fun to smoke off!

I am pretty happy with mine. When you weigh cost vs performance, they are hard to beat.

Which HMMWV tires are you speaking of? The bias plys are 36x12.50-16.5 LT Goodyear Wrangler RT. The Radials are 37x12.50R16.5 LT (load range D) Goodyear Wrangler MT. I would know I changed a ton of both in the motor pool (USMC 2002- 2006), speaking from experience the bias tires work great in the mud as long as you can spin them clean; the radials work pretty well in sand if you keep em aired down. Both tires absolutely suck on wet and snowy roads, they both wear pretty well... the price seems good I'd buy a set.

Yeah I seem to recall the bias tires doing overall better than the radials off road, the bias tires were very rough and noisy on pavement.

The pro comps will perform and last just as good as a BFG if you take care of them.

This thread is driving me crazy!! I own the bias hummer tires and they are on my crew cab and on my wheeler. They are very quiet on the road for an offroad tire, they don't sway or bump at all. I agree they aren't great in snow and could be better in rain. But for dry pavement and ANY offroad condition they are great!!

Maybe you should have them balanced internally like semi tires if you are having issues. I was just wheeling @ Apple Valley Farms (www.rpm4x4.com) this last weekend and they performed AMAZING!! I wheeled over cars, on rocks, in the woods, in the mud, in sand, in the shale pit!! Come on, I don't understand how people hate on these so much...I am sure there are better tires out there, but for $50 a tire, please, please show me a better deal. I was thinking of replacing mine with swamper boggers and after this weekend I won't,....errrr don't need to! Check out the wheeling pictures here (if you have a myspace account): http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...lbumId=1220648

There are a couple things to know about them before hand, they are 16.5" tires...which means you need 16.5" wheels and I don't think there are ANY 16.5" rims with a 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern. But if you have an 8 Lug axle you are in luck as Ford, Chevy and Dodge all had 8 lug 16.5" rims. I had Stockton Wheels make my wheels for my F150....cost a lot more than my tires did.

You can sipe your hummer tires if you're using them offroad, I recommend keeping your front steering tires un~siped and then sipe your rears for maximum offroad traction. I would rate them very highly and recommend them to anyone for dry steet use and mild to extreme wheeling.

Buy them, love them, tell me I was right.

Just to say they do make 16.5" rims for the 5x5.5 bolt pattern, and summitracing is one of the places that sells them.

I've seen a custom-made set of 16.5-5x5.5" Bart Monster rims on a Bronco, try them. And I am running the GYR RT-II bias-ply tires on reecentered HI rims on my 84 Bronco. I do have 8-lug, 1-ton Ford axles under it, but you can get the rim centers made in whatever bolt pattern you like. The tires I got still have at least 80% tread on them. Only thing idon't like is the tire + rim weighs a good 100 lbs, maybe a tad more. Better eat your Wheaties!!! JSM84
