On a funny note, my sister told me she was thinking of getting one on her back and I looked at her with a stern face and said "Fine, then I will have you written out of the will." She hasn't brought it up since.

It's getting to much more of a mainstream type of thing than ever before. I'm no fan of them, but I can appreciate the artistry involved with creating them. My niece is becoming a tatoo artist and is not only applying them but getting them all over herself as well. I'm amazed at what people are willing to pay to permenantly disfigure themselves, but at least she's making good money...
Even my 74-yr-old mom got one...

My daughter doesn't have one, but more women are getting them. I don't have a problem with the small ones on the ankle or back, but some have gotten a little carried away with them. They might want to look at the old guys that have their tattoos fading away and looking kind of sick. Also if in the job market some places frown on tattoos that can't be covered by uniforms or the like. What looks kind of cute now might look kind of silly 10 or 15 years down the road.

My youngest daughter calls tattoos on girls, that very name.
"Tramp Stamp".
When I was young and dumb, I wanted a tattoo. But, I'm glad that I listened to my dear old Dad.
Dad says that tattoos and suicide are a lot alike --- "They are a permanent solution to a temporary problem."

My sister and I were talking about our mom's tattoo (it's a butterfly down low on her back where it can rarely be seen) and my sis commented that at least she's the right age to get one, because when a young woman gets a tattoo of af bluebird, it looks like a vulture by the time she's mom's age...

I've posted about tatts before. So I won't put much today.
However, when it comes to tattoos, how many times is it a real desire to have a lasting piece of art to commemorate something meaningful and how many times is it just the person giving into hype and peer pressure? (And who says I can't write a run-on sentence?)
Brings to mind the Miller Beer Ad where all the guys are yelling "Tribal Armband! Tribal Armband!"

My sister doesn't have any tattoos. She's much too busy being a career officer in our navy. But she's somewhere between here and the Middle East right now so who knows what souvenirs she'll bring home.
For girls that do get them, I think one is enough. I prefer the little ones above the bum line. Something she can flaunt on a night out and keep covered on more conservative occasions. Something that says... "buy me a drink I'm easy!!". On her ***** is too weird. Nothing below belly button level
