Cps ???

Having the same problem as last year. Went out driving on a bumpy road and the truck died. Wasn't on the pedal, just coasting. Cycled the key and it start up and is still running fine, for now. Last year it happened but wasn't on a dirt road. Took it to the Ford Dealer and had it checked out. They changed out the CPS and had been running since this last event? Checked the bolt to the CPS and its tight. Could it be the CPS again?

Sounds like it could be a possibility. Did the dealer put the "new" CPS in it or replace it with the old faulty one?

Someone said that the dealers where still selling the old ones?

CPS's commonly freak out no matter when they were made how old they are or which version they are although I think the jury is still out on this years version. Order this one (click here)</a>. It's the latest version and is much cheaper than the older ones. It says it's for 97 and newer but it works on all 7.3 powerstrokes. If you go to the dealer just tell them you want part number F7TZ12K073B so they don't try to sell you an older more expensive one.

Sounds like it could be a bad wire, hit a bump moved the wire & lost connection. Check the wire close to the CPS. I worked on one that had a bad spot next to the connector, cut it off & installed a new connector, problem solved.
