'54 lower grill valance pannel differences?
I need a lower valance pannel for my '54. This is the part behind the bumper and under the grill. My original had two triangle holes for the grill to go thru. They are just above the cutouts for the frame. The grill would bolt to the flange around the holes. I talked to a guy on ebay that had the front end from a '54 but he said there were no holes, the grill just came down and stoped. My parts catalog shows holes for the grill. Was there a differnt type for '54. Can any other years work with the '54 grill? Thanks and, anybody have one for sale? Danny

I believe you are referring to this front valence (sometimes called the gravel guard or splash apron):

Danny,
The lower valance for the '54 is unique. The catalog link that Branden posted seems to agree, but I didn't see any pics.
There are holes in the valance for the grille fangs and the sheet metal is bent down or a doubler spot welded in place with a hole for a screw to attach the fangs to the valance.
I'm pretty sure the '53 uses the park light lense but does not include the cut outs for the fangs. You could add the holes but it would be difficult to make them "just like Henry did." '55 & '56 use different park light assemblies so they won't work unless you're modifying those too.
Good Luck!
