Does anyone know just how much of an increase a K&N Filtercharger (the complete kit, airbox and all) provides on the 3.0L Ranger V6? Is it even available for that engine? I'm getting ready to trade in my '93 XLT on a new truck and I'm torn between the Edge and XLT supercabs. I don't want or need 4WD and I prefer the looks of the Edge, but since you can't get an Edge 2WD equipped with the 4.0L, and since there's roughly a 57hp difference, I was curious as to just how much I could "close the gap" performance-wise if I were to install one of these filters.

My guess would be a 2-5 hp gain using a K&N over a normal paper filter, but adding the entire cold air induction package would gain you more. I doubt you would see more than 10 HP.

You may need to look around at more dealers. About a month ago i bought a new 2001 edge regular cab, stepside 4.0. The dealer i went to was the only one with these trucks in this area. He had 6 of them with 4.0 and 5spd. I had to go to abou 5 dealerships to find it. Plus the 2001 is $1000 cheaper than the 2002 right now

 

 

man if you get a new ranger with a v-6 ... you need to check out poorboys performance , mac products just came out with cold air systems for the truck and cat back systems ... good prices too !!!
