Welcome to FTE stroke this.

My opinion, I would hold onto your 7.3 for a while, unless it's a total beater or you have an overwhelming desire to make a truck payment.

So far, nothing real bad has surfaced in regards to the 6.4 PSD engine. Still, I would let everyone else prove it is a great engine before I purchased one.

Right now, you can pick up a 2007 6.0 PSD for a substantial discount and decent rebates, if you really have to get a new truck.

Tell your dealer to fnd you one, if you want a 6.0. They will search for you and do a dealer trade to make the sale.

Is there really that much difference in the 6.0 and 6.4, besides the twin
turbos and exhaust. .4 doesnt seem like a big bump. Talking block, pistons,
valve train ...........

I'm now driving a 2008 F-250 King Ranch and I believe it is a much better truck all around than previous versions of the Super Duty. The engine is smooth and the body seems very tight and quiet.

Well the trucks are quite a bit different too, from interior to suspension .

My dad just got an 08 F-450 and I will say that the motor is the most impressive part. It is super quiet, starts very quickly (no waiting for plugs) and has good grunt. There isn't a square inch of space left under the hood, they really stuffed it in there.

The interior is very nice and I like the new dash set up. The basic interior is roughly the same layout as 05-07 but the little changes do make a difference. I am still on the fence about the grille & front end set up, it just doesn't do it for me.

my 2 cents.

YEA, I just perchased the 08 250 lariat that I was test driving, like you say, the enginine is much more quiet, I can leave it running in the drive threw.
I guess I will find out about performance once I get it broken in.
Love the interior. I plan to add a cold air intake in a few weeks if I can find out if it will void any warranties, you know the 08's can track modifications.

speaking air intake mods. Has any one put on a K&N. I've done K&N and exhaust mods
on the last couple of trucks and noticed no difference in performance or mileage. On the
vette I did a ram air and performance exhaust and got a big boost in acceleration
but not on my trucks. Just wondering if K&N would help a diesel

I hear you, I have noticed very little with K&N but, I have tried AFE performance filters and gained milage and performance in my 5.4 gas burner, they work and are not as oily as K&N, therfore reducing throttle body tarnishing.
Haven't tryed there filters on a deisel yet.

Not sure on this but the salesman told me. The 6.4 uses one of the side vents for
air intake. So much under that hood hard to tell

Yeah, these new trucks are vastly different from previous versions. The thing that really blows my mind is that there is never any soot in the exhaust pipe. As far as doing any modifications to your truck--the computer will "remember" any changes made even if you remove them prior to taking the truck to the dealer for service. That might have some negative consequences should you need any warranty work done.

I've had my F350 6.4 diesel for 2 months now !!! No probs, its gra Lots of guts and great take off( torque). Had a f150 lariat ( 3 years), Dodge Ram 2500 (3 years), chevy silverado ... Nothing compares to the 08' f350 6.4 sd twin turbo!!! I splurged and got the King Ranch edition, unbelievable !!!
