Trucks first regen today!

I was stopped in traffic and noticed the truck sounded louder, tach was running about 900 rpm with my foot on the brake, the truck would "miss" every 10 seconds. Pulled into my destination and put it in park, idle was now 1200 rpm, went outside and boy, was the air coming out of the exhaust hot! I was afraid to shut it off, I let it run, after 10 minutes it went back to normal. You could see the heat waves from 50 feet away. There was no smoke, just hot air and it smelled hot. It was little disconcerting. The truck has 313 miles on it, 240 miles was in town. Still love the truck, the engine is so responsive it is hard to keep your foot out of it.

This is gonna be fun . I should be getting mine next week and I drive thru the streets of Manhattan daily. I wonder when the first time will be when I go into regen while waiting at a light and pedestrians crawling all around the car.hehehe

Hopefully you won't have one of those flame throwers. HeHe. Doubt it, but it would be pretty entertaining with a bunch of people walking around the truck.

Ha ha....... I'm a NYC Firefighter and am assigned to an engine company in midtown. If we get a call for a fire from a SuperDuty, I'll know who and why.

I will keep an "eye out" for your truck. Our administrative district doesn't go beyond 5th Ave from 23St-34St, but would go that way for a fire or other emergency. I live in Queens right near the border of Nassau County. A stone's throw from Long Island really.

Most of the time you will hardly notice, maybe just a little stumble for a second then high idle while stopped. Other than that it runs with just a little more power.

So does this mean the 6.4 will sucessfully regen at idle and there is no minimum speed restriction for regeneration? I read where the '07 Duramax LMM has to be moving at least 30 mph to have the heat for a good regen.
