1997 ford just started making a funny noise
Just two weeks ago i figured out what was wrong with my 4wheel drive
and i fixed a vacuum line by the battery, and went mudding
after i cleaned all the mud out it now makes a funny noise and it feels as if the floor has a slight vibration to it almost like that transfer case is still engaged. What i did was drive it down a steap hill and tried to drive out and it wouldnt unless i put it in four wheel drive then i lifted the back and while in 2 i watched to see that the front wasnt spining and it didnt and there is no mud at all on the truck any help i will try

welcome to FTE, be sure to drop by your local chapter and say hi.
i'm not quite understanding your story/problem. was the hill you went down slick?? is that why you needed 4x4, or is it that the truck is going nowhere in 2wd?? have you checked all fluids lately?? what size rubber are you wearing?? what speeds are the shuddering happening at? not trying to be rude, but a little more info might help us think of solutions...

i simply went down the hill at an angle to see if the truck was still engaged in 4 hi, when i was in 2hi, and i lifted the back after that to see if the transfer case was locked in and my hubs werent but that was all fine. and its not clanking so that leads me to believe its not the cv axels
the noise starts around 30 to 40
2 wd works as well as all the rest
my truck is stock 265/70/r17
i rotated all tires and it still does this, but now that i think about it when i was washing all the mud out of my front passenger tire i took that brakepad off the see if they were worn maybe it is on tight
