Seat Baccks in 2001 F150

Hi Guys,

I have a 2001 F 150 supercab. The driver's seat belt doesn't
retract well. I've been told the winder is in the seat. The seat
back appears to be a panel like a door panel. Anyone know for
sure before I mess something up. The seats are armless Captain
seats, with a center console.

Any help will be appreciated
Joe

I have the same truck with the same problem. I don't think the winder is in the seat though, I believe it is on the floor between the seat and the door.

Ive got the same seat, but no problem yet, i did manage to poke a hole in the seat back with a wrench in my pocket, not sure how to repair.Im thinking the seatbelt winder is mounted to the floor as well..humm, Is it legal to mount a seatbelt to the seat only...

I have the captain's seats and the dealer says it's in the seatback. I have a cheap chiltons book, but it doesn't go so far as into the seats.

'01 - up trucks should have the SIR (Seat Integrated Restraint) retractors integrated into the seats. They're part of the air bag system and it has to be deactivated. I copied the instructions into a WORD doc and if you want it PM me your e-mail addy.
