CCV mod, smoke out the hose at idle?

I recently done the CCV mod and I noticed when I go home after about a 20 minute drive that there was smoke coming out at idle, enough smoke that I looked under there to make sure something wasn't hot or on fire. Is this normal or do you think it was just because of the hose being all new and burning off something?

Your right- over time that gunk builds up in your IC, and while it's not a whole lot, I'd rather not have any of it. If anyone is overly concerned with just letting the vapors go into the atmosphere, you can always weld a pipe at a steep angle jutting inside the exhaust pipe and it'll act like a venturi and suck the vapors out and somewhat burn them off.

I just absolutely love to hear these comments, because I actually don't get hardly any smoke at all from my hose, which leads me to believe that I have very little blowby.

I get a little puff after startup(amount of time varies) and haven't noticed it after that.

What? There should be a steady stream of vapor. The system can't help but be pressurized from normal combustion and the pressure/vacuum from the pistons. Blowby reveals itself by looking like a steam locomotive chugging away.

So I have a steady stream of vapor that really stinks. Not really smoke but it flows. That is why the stock system is plumbed into the intake to keep folks happy. The IH trucks simply dump it via a tube similar to the CCV mod. If there is not a steady stream from the CCV mod, there may be a clog somewhere. Check it out. The warmer it is outside, the stinkier it is.

Finally, there is some argument over whether the venturi designs work and whether the exhaust pressure overcomes this. I elected to vent it to the atmosphere where I know it escapes and I can look at it. Mine dumps right in front of the driver side rear axle.

I just was wondering... if the CCV hose were to have a low spot, kinda like a sink p trap, because of a bad installation by letting the hose sag enough to let the oil accumulate, would it actually block off the fume pressure and prevent the system from breathing properly? What do think?
I agree, there always should be fumes emitting from the end of the hose or there might be something wrong.

You do not want the hose trapped. I remember reading a post here of someone driving in cold weather had it freeze up with moisture and caused the pressure in the crank case to build up and start blowing out oil.

I've had my CCV hose dumping in front of the driver side rear axle for years and no black on the undercarriage or axle. Stinks like Hades but who cares? Maybe you or I need to look into something. My hose still flows fine though last time I checked. Perhaps I have routed it in a lucky no build-up manner.
