If you want a header system Now look At Clifford performance. They make shorty headers that will keep you emissions legal, and work with the truck's computer. They also make full tubes, but I'm not sure if they will work with the comp or not. Also look at Ebay. That's where I got mine. Not the quickest but generally a really good deal. Just keep looking, it may take a couple weeks to find the ones you want for a good price.

Just be aware, 300 sixes unless set up properly will sound terrible with true duals.

if you keep it in the 1.75 to 2.00 size pipe range I'd imagine it;d be okay.

I want to do this too. But I plan on just going Cat Back. What do the 4.9L engines sound like with a one into two muffler going straight out the back when using the OEM manifold and Cat? I really don't want it to be loud, just a little better flow but keeping the torque the same. Can anyone recommend a muffler and pipe size ... I was thinking 2.00 or 2.25 for the pipe.

I'm running 2.25'' pipe, true duals. It doesn't sound great, but it does sound good enough to me. I mean we don't have a big block v8 here. I like the sound of mine. I'd give you a listen but I'm in the middle of a engine build right now. As for the headers, when I did the intake, full long tube headers, x-pipe, true dual 2.25's and hooker super comps, I noted a really big difference in performance. Don't know how much this has to do with the headers, but I doubt they hurt anything.

A friend of mine a while back put headers true duals and cherry bombs on his 67 mustang straight 6 . He used 2 inch pipe .It sounded very close to a v8. I recently saw and heard a 65 mustang 6 set up the same way with flowmasters and larger pipe size . It sounded like someone was far**ng in a garbage can .I would use a 2 in 2 out magnaflow and small pipes .Or if you want it quieter run twin turbos from autozone for about 20 bucks each .I used a single magnaflow 2 in 2 out on my v8 duls and it isnt real loud but if I step on it ....Pat

As opposed to Farting without a Garbage Can like the Ricers sound.

Ha!!! I was gonna say... only thing that sounds worse than a straight 6 with an open exhaust is a 4 cylinder rice burner.

Notice Ricers always have a garbage can hanging on the back for that total loud fart sound .And they think there cool! I'll take the rumble music of American v8 any day. Pat

Yeah .... but I also like the European tuned sound .... Like my VW has with the hidden Stainless muffler .... kinda sounds like a cross between a Ferrari and the AirCooled Bugs.

I am sure in a few years when the Titan and Tundras hit the Ricer price range, there will be the double fart sound, at least the original owners use non ebay exhausts.
