1956 F-100 360 install

Hello all,

Im starting to gather parts for my 1965 F-100, and I have already ran into a small problem. I cant find a bellhousing for a 360 FE motor to bolt up to a c-6 transmission. I have checked my local salvage yards with no luck. Of course evil bay was no help, But that is life. Evil bay has everything when you dont need it!!!

My only other issue is going to be, what to do with the Y-block that came in the truck, I have no use for it. And would hate to see it go unused in my garage. Any intrest out there???

C6 has a one piece housing meaning you have to find the right C6 for the FE. It is not possible to just change the bell housing.
Are you sure you have a C6?

If it has a removable bellhousing, there's a good chance it's an FMX tranny. But like Fomoko1 said, a C6 is a 1 piece unit. I'm partial to FE powered F-100's, so let me know if you need any more info.

i agree with the others if your auto has an removable bell housing then you got an fmx and i personally dont think they were that good of a trans . your gonna have to dig a little but i wouldn't think it'd be a big problem finding one considering how many cars and especially trucks had the fe and c-6 in 'em .

You know what ... you guys are right... I was thinking c-4. any one have a sure way to identify the transmission I need. Many yards have transmissions laying around. I know the 17 bolt s-shaped pan means c-6. But how about it being the correct transmission for the 360 series motor.

As far as the Y-block, all I know is that it is a Y block with the cross over front exhaust. I havent really messed with since i threw the ole blue tarp over it.
