Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Tire Pressure Monitoring System
My wife was in an accident approximately a month ago. The auto body shop had to replace a rear wheel and tire. They also replaced the tire pressure monitor in the damaged wheel. Now, when the truck is started, the TPMS light flashes for 20 or so seconds. Is there anyway to reset the computer so this alarm goes away? The tires are properly inflated. I did drive the truck to the body shop with the spare wheel and tire. Thanks for any input.
I did try to disconnect the battery to reset already. Didn't help.

they might have upset one of them. most shops have the tool to reset the sensors if not go to ford, have them run a recalibration which I believe is required after a dismount. also make sure and I mean make sure when they let the air out by pulling the valve out of the stem they replaced them with ones the are for tpms valves, standard valves for regular valve stems wreck the sensors! 99% of the time after a tire dismount/mount the system needs recalbiration, or you have a bad sensor. it's hard to get shops into tune about these systems they are so used non tpms. it's very easy to hit the sensor and they forget to reset the system.
good luck.
good luck.

Thank you. More time at dealer or tire shop . . . I was afraid you would confirm this. I will monitor the pressure myself until tire rotation time. By the way, when my explorer gets very hot like it does when parked in summer sun for 9 hours, always the tpms light and often the abs light engages, and, cold weather below 30 degress results in the same - - I guess this is a computer issue and I have come to not trust the "systems check". Anyway, thanks again

There is a way you can reset the tire pressure monitor yourself at home. I worked as a technician for ford for a few years and the procedure is quite simple. All you need is an old transmission pan magnet (the round type with the hole in the middle) that will fit over the valve stems. Here is what you do.
First, you will need to cycle the ignition from the off position to the run position three times, ending in the run position the third time. Press and release the brake pedal, then turn the key off. Cycle the key three more times, once again ending in the on position the third time. The horn should sound briefly 1 time, and vehicles equipped with the message center will read "trian left front tire". Take your round magnet and place it over the valve stem of the left (drivers side) front tire (with the stem sticking through the hole in the center) and keep it there until the horn sounds briefly. Move to the right front tire and do the same thing, then right rear, then left rear. Once you've done that, the message center should display "tire training mode complete". Turn the key off and you're all done! I'm not sure if this works on all new Fords, but im pretty sure it works up to at least 2005. Hope this helps everyone out! If you have any questions just reply to this post and I'll do my best to help ya!
