Engine problems - after of road trip

Howdy all as you might read below i recently acquired a 95 Bronco, 5.8L V-8. It worked good on road however off road was a different story. I got stuck in sand and it indicated that I was in 4x4. however the wheels went spinning and there was no grip at all. After gettin out of the sand and back up the steep hill it died. It would turn over but then die after traveling a few yards. I finally made it home after a few hours and a few min. in between each turn over. A few mechanics have told it me could be the 02 sensor. what is this 02 sensor and how hard is it to replace? Is it gonna cast me a lot of money? Also anyone have any idea what else it could be? The fuel and air are sealed pretty tight so no luck there.
Thanks
Gary

My 96 5.0's 02 sensor is on the driver's side exhaust manifold...about $70 to $80.
I have no advice for you other than to see if your auto hubs are shot. Mine went at 30k miles.
As for the engine, think the fuel line is ok; look around the fuel filter in front of pass. side rear wheel. do you have a check engine light on?

Nope the check engine light is on, however i havnt always looked at it, but when it dies it is. I am gonna replace the fuel filter just in case. The bronco keeps studdering and then it will die as if its not gettin enough fuel. or to much fuel or not enough air. Its got a K&N filter on it... Any other possible ideas?
Thanks

ok..ez things 1st...fuel filter..then try a scan..www site @ end of this message..or just pay a dealer ~$70.00 for a good scan; then replace parts yourself or at a good local shop..
next, could be EGR valve..02 sensor, etc..way too much for me to guess at; right?
here is a www site for scanning:
