2003 F150 tire size change

My truck, 2003 Super Crew Lariat, 4x2, 5.4L engine. Current tires BFG 275x60x17. I have a chance to get some Michelin LTX A/S 265x60x17. Are these tires appropriate for my truck.

What will this change about my truck, performance, appearance, etc.

If you are going from 275 to 265's your tire will be 10 mm or 3/8s of a inch narrower that is the only diffrence between the two tires.

It will also be shorter by about half an inch and your speedo/odo will be 2% off, nothing major. Performance wise you may feel a bit more power but i doubt it with that little of a change.

As for that specific tire i don't know anything about them.

To break it down for tires.... 265-60-17.....means 265mm wide... thats the width of the tread....now for the 60.... that means that the side wal is 60% of the width so in your case it will be 159mm tall side wall. the 17 means the diameter of the rim....

so...

275-60-17 is 275mm wide and 165mm tall side wall
265-60-17 is 265mm wide and 159mm tall side wall....

so you are losing 10mm on width and 6mm on height... not much differnce... hope this makes it simple.

Those tires will work fine. You probably wont notice much of a difference at all, except maybe the speedometer.

You should, however, check the load rating. Your proposed tires will probably have a slightly lower rated load.

That would be 12mm height difference. Gotta do it twice!
