surging buckling when throttle is applied truck will not go past 2,000 rpm
hey every one im new to this site... i was just wondering if someone out there could help me out with my problem.... my 1997 7.3L will sorta cut out or buckle and surge really baddly when i press the gass... really badly when im going up hills or under load...the truck does this when its about to hit the 2,000 rpm range...ive replaced my injectors with stage 1's, cps, 17* hpop, new ipr, icp sensor, and not that long ago replaced my IDM...just tonight i replaced my HPOP thinking it was the problem and things just seemed to have gotten worse... when i removed the fuel bowl and checked inside it seemed to be a lil dirty.. so when i put everything back together it runs really bad and will now staLL and have hard time starting...could a fuel pump cause problems like this?? or does anybody have any advice for me thanks alott!!

It kinda sounds like electrical but I wouldn't rule out fuel too. Does the entire truck shut down, ie radio, lights ect.
Have you checked your fuel pressure (FP)? If you think it's FP, rig up a gage place it so you can keep an eye on it the next time it the engine cuts out. (ie. Tuck it under the wiper).
A faulty IDM (Injector driver module) could be cutting out but I'm pretty sure it would throw a code. I know you replaced it a while ago, was it new or used?
It could be the TPS (Throttle Position sensor) but that should throw a code too.
Beg, borrow or steal a scanner. They are invaluable for diagnosing intermitant problems. If you can leave one hooked up while your driving it may show the area to look into.

The TPS is on the go-pedal. It is replaced as an assembly. You might be able to clean it b4 replacing. Use WD-40.
Here's some part #'s:
Throttle Assembly (Includes Pedal, TPS, & IVS) 94-97
(Ford) F5TZ-9F836-A (f-Series) 94-95
(Ford) F6TZ-9F836-AA (F-Series) 96-97
(Ford) F5UZ-9F836-B (Econoline)
TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) 94-97
(Ford) F2TZ-9B989-C
(recently available, haven't confirmed it works yet)

I've heard it may be available but I haven't tried myself.
