Just to go cruising in my truck, driving 55 mph, costs me $15 per hour Thing is, I know it's more than that, because 55 mph is too slow

I was going to put in power steering and disc brakes on my F-1, but now it looks like it will be an OD Tranny instead!!! We're right at $3.00 a gal and higher. Anyone know of a fuel miserly 4 bbl carb?

No. But, my warmed over 400 with a big cam and 4v carb in my '53 gets a little better mileage than the stock 400 with a 2v in my '79 4x4. I can get right around 11 mpg, sometimes around 12 mpg. Gas prices are getting ridiculous. I'm just glad I have a good commuter car for a daily driver.

With the fuel prices steadily climbing, it looks like my idea of installing a turbo diesel is getting better every day. I'm hoping for mid 20s MPG for fuel economy, but will settle for low 20s.

Talking

I just bought a new motorcycle it is a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard, it is supposed to get 45-50MPG. My daily driver is a Jeep Wrangler, it only gets 18 mpg no matter what. I could be doing 55 mph with a tail wind and I would get 18mpg.

I pay $15 a day. $7.50 to work, $7.50 home. A gas tank leak will do that. That said, as soon as I get my Jeep Gr. Cherokee going again, I'll see about 16mpg. I dunno why, but Jeeps are far behind the mpg curve....just look at a Ford Superduty diesel, 22 mpg, and twice the weight. It's currently $2.99 for 87 octane here. Wish my tbird was running, now.

Cruising at 55 MPH+? Get a powertrain like I have and you won't have that problem anymore! Well, down hill maybe...

We're paying almost $3/gallon now here. And the Trans-Alaska Pipeline moving close to 1/2 million barrels/day runs right through here. Tell me how that works, please?

We're paying 3.31 gal here in Ore. Just outside of Eugene. That's the lowest. I've seen it as high as 3.59 for regular unleaded. I can't wait to see what it's going to be during Memorial weekend

It's 3.66 here in Los Angeles. Cost me $72 to fill my truck (22 gal tank). It funny you guys are talking about gears. I have 3.5's in my 9" rear end which I recently put in. I love the torque with these gears, but my highway driving is the pits. Since all the great shows are coming up and most require highway to get there, I wanted to change the gears back to 3.0 or even 2.78's. The rearend shop was double and triple the price for the high gears than say 4.11 gears. The owner told me he can't get the high gears fast enough because guy are switching them due to the high gas prices. Go figure...

It Dropped Below 3 A Gallon For The Moment Here In Central Illinois But As Soon As A Fuel Company Rep Farts And Needs A New Pair Of Undies It'll Go Back Up . Personally I'm Just Not Goin' Anywhere I Don' Need To , And I'm Not Lookin' For An Econo Box As The Prices On Even Crappy Ones Are Over The Top Now Same For Deisels. No Matter What Though I Jus' Grin At The Flock Of Sheep And Smile As I Roar By In My Gas Guzzlin' Truck And I Relish The Role Of The Big Bad Wolf .
