If you have factory amp, oil, and temp gauges and not "idiot" lights, then yes. That is if there was a PO and they did not mess w/ the wiring. The search function on here is a very valuable tool, there have been many posts on this subject. Also, please post a specific subject like "Installing Factory Tach", it will help you and others using the search and will help you get help better.

My '83 came without a tach. It did come with the gauge package, though.

I got a tach from a guy here on this forum, (Thanks, Lee L.) and installed it in the cluster. Then, hard-wired it to the proper wires behind the cluster plug. Someone here can probably send you the tach wiring schematic. My truck had no printed circuit connections for a tach. It worked fine until the tach itself got intermittent and went out. I now have another tach to install, (again, Thanks, Lee!) and it will cure the problems.

Best of luck.

I was in the same boat. What I did was acquire a gauge cluster with tach from a junkyard. Take apart the cluster and remove the tach and the ribbon cord in the old cluster. You need the ribbon cord from the donor because yours will be different and the ribbon cord supplies the input to the tach. Install the tach in your gauge cluster and use the ribbon cord from the donor. I spent more time removing the clusters than it took to install the tach. Check you bulbs in the cluster while you have it out.
