quadrajet on a 460

I know this sounds crazy as hell. This is the setup that was on the truck when I bought it. My daughter had a near drowning accident and I must sell this truck to help pay for hyperbariatric treatments. I can't afford to swap to a holley, so I must make this work. It runs ok, I just rebuilt it and I need to know what the mixture presets are for it. Also, does this setup have pretty good potential

Maybe Try the fuel delivery forum.

That engine and carb can be used on any year truck.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, hope she is doing ok. I am sure the quarajet will work fine, the engine doesn't know, or care, what brand carb it is.

As much as I hate to admit it, 4Wheel and Off Road mag did a carb test a while back, testing a Holly Truck Avenger, an Edelbrock and a Quadrajet. The end results/winner was the Quadrajet?. It even outperformed the new Holley Truck Avenger carb when it came to running on extreme angles!. It also got better mileage than the others due to the smaller primaries. They also stated that it felt like it had more "seat of the pants" acceleration than the other carbs tested because of the larger secondary butterflies!

That is interesting to know. In other words, don't spend the money on Holley or Edelbrock when the stock carb will out perform it, and can be found easily in the boneyards.

According to the article!. Personally I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a Quadrajet (I'm a Demon guy myself, very easy to tune), but if you already had one, apparently it's worth rebuilding and performs well.

"when the stock carb will out perform it"

SOME stock carbs that is. There were many Q-jets. The early, simple units as found on musclecars would be preferred.
