IH has stopped shipping 6.4 too Ford
I read last month on Four Wheeler Magazine that Ford entered in a lawsuit against International for warranty and engine pricing issues.
On the June issue there is an article that International has stopped shipping the new 6.4 too Ford because Ford is not honoring their agreement.
Ford states that IH is not sharing the warranty costs and is unfairly raising engine prices.
I'm not sure of the merits of this publication, but I've read simialar articles on Diesel Power as well.
Does anybody have additional information? Or is this old and ongoing news?

What I read was ford was sueing over the 6.0 not the 6.4- that was in my latest 4 wheeler. The IH/Ford realtionship is going sour, ford is supposidly going to produce their own engines for 2010 I think the article said- a 6.6 V-8 for the super duties and a 4.4 V-6 for a new heavy duty 150 that will sport a 6 speed auto.

I also read from a news scorce about a month ago that Ford is going to build thier own 6.7 diesel V-8 for 2010. The V-6 diesel is going to be in the 09 half tons. It is from Land Rover. I read that in a Ford News article. Ford is said to be on the Fast track with a new Diesel. But wait,,,Don't be surprised if CAT isnt involved somehow in the 2010 engine. IT's not just wishfull thinking but came from a Ford exec. that Ford was building thier own engine and the reason is so they have total controll over quality and performance. I hope it all works out. I have never thought it good to outsorce production of your product. Its ok to buy technology from other souces ie. CAT for Ford engines for example but you have to be in total controll of your product if your going to produce quality.

It's going to get very interesting in the next few years with all the added anti-pollution devises on Diesel trucks<O</O
It reminds me of the early 70's when they started installing air pumps, Catalytic, EGR valves etc. to gas powered vehicles, while diesel cars (albeit a relative few and were from Europe), and some trucks were all ignored by the tree huggers/politicians.<O</O
When I purchased my PSD in 03, which I still own and I'm very satisfied with my purchase, I was the first Diesel truck owner in my neighborhood, and Diesel fuel prices were the lowest of all fuels.<O</O
Today there are 7 Diesel truck owners just in my neighborhood alone, and six out of every ten 3/4 ton and higher capacity trucks I see on my roads are Diesel powered, and the cost of Diesel fuel is now the same or higher that regular 87 pump gas.<O</O
Supply and demand? perhaps. But I smell Big Oil company greed and tree huggers fighting, once again, for there existence.<O</O

rmo1....I am that boat too. I was going to wait till next fall to purchase our retirement vehicle but now, and since I don't have to rush to get this done, I am going to wait for the 2010's. I just read another news article this morning about Ford being on the fast track with the IN HOUSE diesel they are buiding. They are not saying much except it will be ready for the 2010 model year. Rumors....(don't ya just love rumors ...say there could be some connection with Volvo help....and then I read that CAT might be involved with techical help. Ford is comming out with a new V-8 Deisel for the F-150 next fall. Its a dirivitive of an engine in Europe from Land Rover, witch of course Ford owns. I am waiting very anxiously to see what it is.
I also read that the new Ford CEO is trying a new body material to possibly be used on ALL ford products. Instead of the present steel bodies its something from Aircraft. Being a previous BOEING CEO HE might actually have some good connection and knowledge..ya think? They articlel didn't say what the material was but it is used in the Aircraft industry. The reason for changing according to the article is 1...cost...apparently its much cheaper and would save Ford millions. And it will never rust. So ...this is my thinking/guess it is probably some sort of Composit/aluminum material??? Lots to think about....But I do know this..things are going to change in the auto industry in the next few years...and things are going to change more at Ford than anywhere. O....and by the way...Toyota has sheveled their Heavy Duty truck for the next three years too. I read that this morning too.

If all of this is going to happen in 2010 and you are going to wait till 2010, then once again you are buying a 1st year vehicle. Once again you are the ginea pig. I love and buy ford but it is a never ending process for all the vehicle manufacturers. I still do the maintenance items myself but even those days, I'm afraid, may be limited.
