The factory remanufactured 460 I put in my 78 crewcab in 2005 started making a loud noise every now and then. At first I thought it was a lifter but at times it seemed way to loud to be a lifter. I remembered it had a 3 year 36,000 mile warrenty on it. So i found all my info and took the truck up to the Ford place where i bought the motor yesterday. They called me today and told me that they had ordered me another motor and to give them a couple of days to get it put in. I am suprised I thought it would take an act of congress to get them to honor the warrenty.
Just an update on my truck. It is still at the ford place, they are waiting on a part. it is supposed to be here tommorrow. Supposedly the spacer that goes behind the harmonic dampner broke when they took it off and they had a hard time finding a new one. It has been over three weeks now and my patience is about to run out.

You didnt take it to Rome Ford Lincoln Mercury. That sounds like the way they operate. They always tell us that they have there best guy working on it and there waiting on the parts.
No it's not at Rome Ford Lincoln Mercury its at Fairway Ford. I did go up there friday before last and found out that the part they had to order did not break it was lost. The mechanic said he took it off and laid it on the back of the golf cart and went to lunch. When he got back the cleaning crew had came through the shop and threw it away. To make it even worse the spacer thay order would not have been here until next month. So I ordered one off Ebay last monday and it got here on wednesday. I have my fingers crossed that maybe it will be ready this week if no other parts were thrown away. I also got to see my truck to the hole front clip is laying in the floor of the shop. The only thing that made me feel better is that the mechanic said that he has three 1978 ford trucks.
Fairway is pretty good, I'd rather take my vehicles there than any of the other Ford dealers around here. Hopefully they will go ahead and get it back to you soon!

Got my truck back saturday. Everything seems like they got it back together pretty well. They forgot to recharge the a/c though so I'm taking it back some time this week. This motor holds better oil pressure and runs cooler than the first one did. It seems to get better gas mileage too. I'm thinking now that the first motor was'nt right when I got it.
