I want the best all terrain tires
I really need some very good all terrain tires. I was looking at the bfgoodrich baja champions which I would love to have but there 285 dollars a tire thats 1120 dollars for four tires. Theres no way i can afford that. What are some other exilent all terrian tires. Any help would be greatly appreated.
I drive in the snow and dirt a lot but I also do a lot of highway driveing.
thanks

I want the best all terrain tires
Even though i know i'll get a lot of flak for saying this...i am extremely pleased with my Goodyear AT/S tires. They dig in the dirt and sand, but not as much as a set of mud tires would. They have excellent wet traction on road and are quiet, a gentle hum at 80 mph. I havn't had a chance to check them in deep mud b/c it hasn't rained good here for about 2 months, but they plow through shallow mud like it was nothing. I'll admit $190 a piece for 32x11.5R15 is not cheap, but i think worth it.

it will be diff to get the good mudders cheap dude.
btw oleblue, i have the GY AT/s 32x11.5R15 on my 96 and I agree with you on the sand and noise topics. I bought them specifically for beach use when surf fishing, and general road use.
My Bronco still is iffy thru shallow puddles, but much better than with the stock gy hts rubber.
adios gringoes! be well!

I have plain old BFG AT's 32"x 11.50's on my Bronco and I love them. I have 30k miles on them and just drove through 17" of fresh snow (uphill) without getting stuck. They are not the greatest in the mud but I think they are hard to top for an All Terrain tire. I think I only paid around $500 for all 4.

I want the best all terrain tires
thanks guys but I think im going to go with the new BFGoodrich All terran kos they are the new version of the all terrain bajas which i have on my truck. I feel that they where the best tires I have ever bought and I have never had good luck with good year. I had a pair of all season michlens on my 89 bronco and they sucked so much. I would have a load on and going trough the hills they skidded on almost every turn. The all terran bajas did not lose traction once on the road. They seem to work ok in mud a little shakey in snow storms. But im gonna go with the bfg all terrain kos. If you guys know anything bout them sucking let me know. I don't really want the old style bfg a/ts cause there blackwall due to the firestone recall. thanks.

I want the best all terrain tires
I'm running BFG AT/KO's 31x10.5x15 on 15x7 rims on my Bronco. They are good in wet weather on pavement and I've liked them off-road too. I haven't taken them into mud yet but I suspect they won't do well as they are only AT's.

btw, here is Goodyear's at's tire sizing chart...it shows a lot of info..wish the other tire makers had this on-line too.
and, watch out for spring sag over time..it could make a big diff in tire/bumper/rad arm rubbing....

BFG 33x10.50 T/A is a great tire. I just put them on my 1986 bronco without a lift and they didn't rub, even though the charts say you cannot do that. they handle good in the mud and rain. I blew my 4wd and it will out do just about anything that has 4wd with 31x10.50. So i would recommend those.

You can't go wrong with BFG AT's. I have a 95 and ran 32x11.50 BFG AT's for the first 67,000 miles. About 20,000 miles was off road in the Mojave, Baja, and Nevada in support of my kid racing long distance off road events. The BFG's hooked up great in sand and basic desert conditions. At about 45000 miles they developed a viberation from 75 to 85 MPH. I could have gotten 70,000 miles out of them if the sidewalls didn't get brittle and crack. I replaced them with Bridgstone Desert Duelers that seem to hook up ok, ride better but don't wear as well. Oh yeah, we had limited sponsership with BFG and got the tires for our support and chase trucks for about $50 a piece.

I am running BFG M/T 32x11.5". I love them to death!!! I had them siped as well to improve wet/snow performance, and in our last little snowstorm they worked just great. As with many mud tires, however, they can be noisy. I think the noise is cool.
My wife's Toyota Tacoma has a set as well. The tire guys looked at her and warned her, "These will be kind of noisy." She replied, "I don't care!" The tire guys looked at me and said, "Cool wife!"
If you don't like the hum of the treads, I've talked to a lot of people running the BFG A/T's. They always seemed to like the "meatier" look of my muds better, but they didn't want the noise. For a little less, Discount Tire also has a tire called "Mud King" that is basically almost the same as the BFGs for about $15 less per tire. Again, these will hum a bit.
