Fire trucks

Wow. My 53 F-750 fire truck runs out good, it's been fun. You ever notice how once you start something, you can't stop. I found another fire truck. This one is still in service, and is a 54 F-800. It has a 1000 gallon tank, and a front mounted pump. What to do with two old Ford Big Job firetrucks? Well, Jefferson County, Oregon has decided to mess with us on our property. We're outside of the fire district, so they want to make a bunch of red tape for us to finish up the building permits for the new double wide . Oregon Department of Forestry has offered to help me get involved in one of their programs They have programs that help rural communities with no fire department meet fire protection needs. Enter: Lamonta Rangeland Fire Association. I am now the chief and founder of a private fire association. All the paper work ain't done yet, but it's happening. You know what the coolest part is? The fire trucks are old Fords (yeah).... The rangeland program gets me grants and other funds to fix, repair, or otherwise make suitable, any fire apparatus I posess. My departments arsenal is going to be comprised of the '53, and now this '54 Ford fire trucks . This is going to be cool. I'll be able to restore both trucks to a driver/show quality condition, and equip them both to meet fire suppression needs. Also, we will have preference to any rangeland fires in my area, and I have a wildland hand crew already on standby. The department has to operate as a NPO, but I will not be prohibited from keeping a contract with BLM, and hand crews. I'll add a couple pics of the new truck as soon as possible.

Thumbs up

Fire Trucks are AWESOME! Congrats on the new rig. I'll swap stories with you when I get far enough to try the pump. As was said earlier, mine is a 54 F-750 with a Seagrave pump. I worked on my rear wheel cylinders today, waiting for parts.

Have fun Chief!

When life hands you lemons; swap them for limes and make Margaritas!

Way to go!

I think it will be way cool. Plus, it is being put together based on my child hood dreams. One of them was to be a fireman, and one of them was to own a mid fifties ford fire truck. I also believe, that this will open new doors for the rest of us, you, and so on. I believe it may bring some much needed attention to the rest of FTE's that own Big Jobs, and maybe grab the attention of the collector markets, and maybe even the aftermarket suppliers (I know, wishful thinking). It will also make it that much better when the '53 takes her trip back to Iowa for a parade appearance.

hey Joe what gives? By the way there is a fire truck grave yard about an hour from my house so let me know if I can pull something for you if you need it. There are a couple mid fifties fords and a few macks and so on in there.

Joe, Great '54 F-800.

Question for all: I noticed the '54 Firetruck has a wiper above the windshield. I noticed this on some other old Ford Firetrucks. Anyone know why? Joe, Are there wiper "pivots", or whatever they are called, in the normal place?

That's the first time I've seen a wiper above the windshield. The spots are there for the normal location, but I don't have the truck here yet, and have not had a chance to ask the guy about it. A fire truck graveyard, that's awesome. I'll let you know what I need. I'll e-mail you here real quick like.
