y-pipe and exhaust flutter

y-pipe and exhaust flutter
I just had y-pipe changed and am now experiencing the dreaded exhaust flutter. I have 2004 v-10 with Magnaflow cat-back exhaust. I enjoy the added performance but the flutter sounds like crap. I eventually was going to go with headers but am now rethinking strategy. Has everyone that has changed y-pipes experienced the exhaust flutter or do different y-pipe conversions make a difference? Will headers make it worse? Thanks for any input!

Yeah, I have flutter but only at certain RPM and throttle settings. I can't really hear it unless the windows are down and I'm next to something that will reflect the sound back to me. I like the added mid/high rpm punch I have now. Most of the time the Banks drowns out the flutter anyway.

I'll be using the stock y-pipe after the headers as a test-bed.
When I do modify the y-pipe, the stock will be measured, and I'm going to try to keep the length the same on both sides of the "Y" - which is quite a feat.
I think the "flutter" is because of the y-pipe being unequal length, or too short or too long of a run before the merge.
