Question V8 gasser outlifts V8 diesel

I currently have a 2.5 inch leveling kit on my 2000 F250. I have a relative giving up his rear lift blocks from his F350. My thought was to swap out the blocks and then replace my add-a-leaf front leveling set-up with a 2.5 inch leaf pack type leveling kit. The diesel leveling kit always has a different part # than the gas. Is it because the springs are stiffer on the diesel due to the extra weight? If so, it would stand to reason that if I ordered the spring kit for the diesel and installed it on my gasser I would probably have more than a 2.5 inch lift. I only want a couple more inches added and $300 sounds a lot better than $800 for the 4 inch lift. Any comments?

yeah, the springs are stiffer, hence the different part number... the main drawback to running springs for a diesel on a gasser is that the ride will suffer big time... it won't ride like a truck (stiff), it's gonna ride like a tank (spine-shattering stiff)... I think the diesel is something like 300lbs heavier than the V10, I think... too lazy to look... unless I'm not understanding you... is this for the front or rear? everything I said applies to the front... not so sure about the rear...

Yes. The front is what I am referring to. I'll raise the rear just by swapping the blocks.

I'm thinking the amount of "lift" won't be that noticeable... certainly not worth the extremely harsh ride you are going to get in the front...
