Thanks RJ. It is close on your 56. I assume that you moved it in. Was the original gap in the 2 to 2 1/2 inch range?

Has anybody moved the front bumper in on an F-1?

Bill - I'm working from memory here. The PO moved it in. I took it off. I'm running without a front bumper currently.

I'm not sure an F1 has as severe an overhang problem as the 53-56, but moving the bumper in when dropping the suspension had big payoffs on driveway entrances and street dips. Even then, I slapped the bumper on the ground many times. The good part is that the bumper can take it. The license frame couldn't. I replaced three of them before I quit running a front plate.

Here's a pic of the tucked bumper: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...=52331&width=0

Randy thanks for the info and pic. I think that you are correct that the stock bumper location on the 53-56 is further forward of the sheet metal than it is on an F-1.

I am hoping that someone with an F-1 will come along that has been down this road.

49, on my 56 it seems that every so often I cut more off the frame horns LOL... I really like the tucked look of the bumpers. I'm currently about 1/2" away from the ends and the lower valance. I like it that way. My friend has a 50 F1 and his is about 1.5 inches. I think the F1's look better not as tight up as the 53-56. I guess it's a matter of opinion. Here's a pic of his truck.

I like your friends truck! That is the color and look that I am working towards. I have been thinking SS bumpers front and rear but his looks good in red. I have a repairable good steel front bumper. Do you know if your friend moved the bumper in? Mine in spock position is 2 to 2 1/2 inches from the sheet metal.

Yes he moved it in 1 inch. His sits about 1.5 inches from the body. The bumper and truck was painted Dupont color Radiant Red. I have some more pics if you need them.

RJ, I would like to see some additional photos of your friends truck if you have access to them. Post them on the forum or via a PM. Either would be great
Thanks, Bill

Bill - I took some pics and made sketches of the Hugger Brackets I have.

The location of the bracket on the frame rail is to align the bottom edge of the bracket with the bottom of the rail and push it as far forward as you can before it almost hits the spring hanger. That's how mine is on the 56. You may have to play with it some on your frame to get the right fit. But these did bolt right up to my stock bracket holes. The brackets are listed in John's F-Fun Hundreds catalog as fitting 48-60.

Good luck.

Randy Jack,

your links dont seem to work could you email me the photos and drawings?
