1950 Ford F1 King pin replacement

I am a new Ford F1 truck owner. How do you replace the King Pins in the front end? I have the new parts, but no manual on how to do it. I see a 5/8 nut and a pin? going through the king pin. Does that come out? I struck it with a hammer a few times and it wont budge. Just put it back together until I know what Im doing.

I also want to lower the truck on both ends. Whats the easiest way to do that. Just a few inches, not ground scraping low.

Slarsonroy50F1 I'm new here as well but can tell you these folks have a wealth of infomation to offer It's a great site. I have done the king pins on my 59 a couple of times and asume its the same. That being the case you will need to reem the new bushings with the proper size reemer or the spindle will be a bear to turn. Use a line up tool a.e. punch or phillips s.d. to aline the notch in the pin when it gets close to the retaining bolt hole.I keep the old pin in my tool box and use it to start the pins out the next time they need replacing also makes a good drift or punch.Hello to everyone looking forward to future chats and posts.
