Hastings fuel filters

Has anyone ever heard of Hastings fuel filters for the 6.0? I'm helping someone change his fuel filters this weekend and he bought a Hastings brand filter set from the local Carquest parts dealer for $85. It looks the same as the Racor set as far as I can remember. It has the water separator medium on the primary filter. I've never heard of this brand before. The box says they are made in Kearney Nebraska.

I have no knowlege of Hastings brand, but for about half that price he can go to IH dealer and get OEM filters and not have to question the quality.....

Hastings and Baldwin filters are the same filter from the same plant in Nebraska. Of course these fuel filters are likely from an outside source and repackaged.

I have used the Baldwin fuel filters on my 6.0L with no problem. When compared to the Motorcraft, they look identical. The only difference was the Baldwin's were $25.00.

Welcome to the world of diesels.

Ya' gotta' be new to compression ignition if you're not familiar of Baldwin or Hastings, 'cause they are the "standard" of diesel filtration. Ask any OTR guy.

Other good brands are FleetGuard and Donaldson.

It's not a Fram or Napa world.

A Baldwind Dealer that I found off Baldwin's website. It is just a local truck parts place that mainly deals in medium-duty and heavy-duty (OTR) parts. Just go here and type in your zip, and start calling from the list. Thats what I did.

Baldwin Part Number is - PF7812 KIT

Just make sure your fuel filters (to be OEM spec'd) have the white "Aqua Bloc" media filter on the large HFCM filter. If no white cover over the pleats... it is not OEM spec'd or Racor brand made.

My gallery has pics of what to look for (look under fuel filters).

The Baldwin filters do indeed have the Aqua Bloc on the large filter. They have a pic of the filters on their website.

Good to see ya around again Beach!
