Post AC Freon R12 to Autofrost X12 or ???

Has anyone converted to using Autofrost X12 freon in their AC system?

Wondered if it was an easy conversion. Did you use the existing components or change over to new/rebuilt compressor or dryer?

Was it cold after the conversion, especially in hot 90 + weather?

Does this type of freon contain butane and is this bad for the compressor and other parts?

My AC system in my 90 Bronco is not puting out much cold air, but still works on mild days. It has about 190,000 miles on it now. It was recharged about two years ago by Wal-Mart. Wal-mart no longer does this work. No one else will either, at least for a reasonable price.

I've heard bad things about 134a conversions, including not cold enough to make it worthwhile.

Any and all information on how to go about keeping my AC cold is welcomed and appreciated,

Ron

AC Freon R12 to Autofrost X12 or ???

I switched mine over to the 134a last year when I rebuilt my motor. I live in west central Florida and my A/C blows cold all the time. I do not have my windows tinted and only on long drives with one side getting full sun on it do you start to get a hot spot. Switching is not that hard either if you need to know how to do the switch look at some of my other posts. I have never heard of Autofrost X12 but a friend has used something like hotshot 12 and he swears by it. You can always start by using the X12 stuff and if you do not like it you can switch over to 134a. Hope this helps, Good luck and let us know what you do and how it works,
