Post Harmonic Balancer Spacer Problem

I have a 1971 lincoln 460 in my 1979 bronco. We are changing the timing chain set and we got everything done up to the spacer. We took off the harmonic balancer and then we went to take off the spacer and it wont come. It has a knotch on the crankshaft and then the knotch hole in the spacer but they are on opposite ends of each other and we cant get them to line up. I was wondering if there was a trick to getting the spacer off cause weve tride with wrenches and everything and it wont budge. It wiggles side to side just a little but not much and it goes back and forth. If anyone can help that would be great thanks.
