PCM ID help

I have come across a 2001 5.4 engine for my 01 4.6 expy. The problem is I was not able to get the PCM with the engine. I have seen numerous PCMs on ebay but I don't know which one to get. They have different part#s. I need to know what factors affect the type of PCM to get. I figure model year, engine size, transmission type, 4wd or 2wd to name a few. Or do all I need is any 01 5.4 PCM and just reprogram it with a tuner. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Chris

You don't need another EEC for that swap-a good tuner can simply change the displacement in the EEC,and also can change the spark tables as needed for the new engine. All of the rest of the EEC parameters are pretty much the same between the two.

You might also peek in the passenger's side door of a truck with the same MY motor you're getting. The sticker tells which PCM is used.
