2004 6.0L Diesel 4" or 5" what is the difference?

I have a lifted 2004 F-250 6.0L diesel, and I just tuned it with a Super Chip yesterday. I want exhaust and I plan on getting an Intake and I'll be done. What is the difference between a 4" and 5" exhaust system from the turbo back? From previous research I know that an exhaust system from the turbo back helps low range turbo spool for a quick response. But is 5" too much? I absolutely love the sound of the turbo screaming through the exhaust pipes, does that sound come more from 4 or 5"? Also, back pressure. By having a 5" exhaust would that be not enough back pressure? What are the main differences?

Thanks in advance,
-Jeremy.

Thanks MnMwhit. I don't know what I could have done without your input. I mean regarding the performance benefits to the issue of 4" or 5" exhaust.

You are probably looking for performance quantification between the 4" and 5". Right? Seems like that is something the exhaust maker should provide. I don't think you'll find it anywhere else.

Keep in mind that, between the two, the down pipe is probably going to be the same size because a 5" won't fit.

I would just go with a 4", and if I wanted any better flow than that I would think about shortening it up on the tail end.

Also, most folks here say to leave the stock intake alone. You can't beat it with A/M and they can cause issues.

I was told 4inch was good for up to 600hp. And with the superchips and intake you wont be near that. Also the stock intake is the best up to 500hp. It might run a little cooler with the 5inch and sound a little different but I don't know if it'll be that noticeable. I have a 3.5 inch downpipe into 4 inch straight pipe and mine runs pretty cool the way it is. 4 inch would be my suggestion

I am doing the same thing as Jeremy2792. Is there any difference in the brand or is the only difference what type finish you want. I am new to this so bear with me. Also do the factory sensors plug back in so it wont trigger an engine light?

Mine was a magnaflow kit and it fit perfect. I think MBRP fits right out of the box also. I've seen some of my friends have to modify silverline kits for their trucks so I'd stay away from that. Mine also throws no check engine light.
