My F-250 SD 4x4 - 5.4/5 speed seems to idle fast...(warm)...about 1000RPM.....wondering what normal is...........doesnt cause me any problems...just wondering if I have an issue that Im not aware of...or if its normal for these engines to idle fast

 

About 650 to 750 is normal. 1000 is a bit high. Could be a Sticking IAC (Idle Air Control) valve or possibly a vacuum leak.

 

Mine 2000 5.4 did that a while back and would go up and down some. That did not concern me but sudden oil usage did concern me. Asked here and replaced the PCV valve. It fixed oil burning and hi idle speed. For $3 it's wortha try.
